Abigail's Birthday- 3 YEARS YOUNG!!!

Here it is!  the big 3.  Abigail has been having mixed emotions about turning three for quite some time now... potty training (we finally did it a couple weeks ago... it involved 1 day of "pee pee treats", and 2 weeks of "poo poo prizes".  We invested in some wonderful animals- which I've been wanting to buy for years anyway- and it cost about $65- which we would've spent on diapers and wipes in a month.) At first, our little Bird was very resistant about going #2... it totally freaked her out.  I've read that to children, it seems like their poop is a part of their body- like an arm or finger- and when it just drops away from them then it can be very frightening... it took a lot of talk about "the poo poo party in the pipes under the house that the poo poo wants to go to, and how poo poo can look like all sorts of fun shapes when it comes out- like little bird eggs, snakes, (you get the drift) etc.  You might think this too much talk of bodily functions for a blog, but let me tell you that as much as I talk about this during the course of my day... this is NOTHIN.  Soooo, after several huge accidents and some major patience and confidence-building... Abigail was successful!  And after she saw how fun it was to get the prizes, she was quite a "regular" customer :)  We're missing a couple of Dalmations and a Pandy, but here's the results of her collection!
P.S. the horse and fairy combo was actually Addie's reading prize... she filled a whole chart of 30 stickers (one/book read) and earned it.  She and Abigail were so proud!!!
Anyway, back to the reservations about turning 3...
She is also sharing a room w Addie now.  We've tried to make it as fun as possible- and since they just stay up and giggle for an hour every night it has ended up being a really great experience for both of them.
Next on the list is gymnastics for Abigail.  This week will be her first week in gymnastics withOUT mommy!  Daddy will be taking both girls to their OWN class.  Very exciting.
The party:  Abigail was pretty uninterested in her own party (while Addie and I were ecstatic!!!)- until the actual day.  Bird was worried about being the center of attention.  She is a little reserved in the spotlight- so I only invited the little kids (and not the bigger-Addie-aged-kids) to come... and Abigail had a BLAST.  (So did mommy!!!)
Here's a re-cap:
THEME: PETS
First they got their noses painted and they were doggies-they all went outside to find a million little paper-doll kitties that were all over the yard.
Then they got whiskers painted on and they became cats.  We played a "Cats sneek up and freeze when I turn around" game and they had to catch the mice...
Then they all got to choose a doggy or a kitty and put their personalized doggy tags on them:
then- since they were mice now... they got to eat like mice on the ground!
(notice the birds on top- because we call Abigail "Bird" :) I love Fondant!
Happy Birthday to you..

I love this picture.

Next they colored their goody bags and got doggy treats for doing tricks (whoppers)
Then presents...
These were the party favors- I got tea-candle holders (glass ones from the dollar store) and mod-podged a photo of each kid with their name on it on the bottom of the holder- then painted over the back of the photo- so you can see the photo from the top- soooo cute!
These are birds (wedding swans- also from the dollar store in a 6 pack) filled w mints...
Family photoshoot comes next...
Don't forget Tay Tay's....

Thank you Auntie Mindi for all your help!
and to all my friends who have such darling kids that we LOVE!
...and to Ruby who was so cute!
We love you sweetie!!!!  You are an angel.  Happy Birthday.
